This month, Razny Jewelers will add 4Ocean to all four of their Chicagoland boutiques. This new addition to the family-owned jeweler’s product mix gives customers who are passionate about marine conservation a way to save the planet’s oceans in style.
4Ocean offers a variety of beaded bracelets made from post-consumer recycled plastic and glass. With the purchase of each one, a part of the profits go towards removing one pound of trash from the world’s oceans and coastlines.
Additionally, some designs have been designed in partnership with other organizations dedicated to the conservation of marine life and their ecosystems. Since 2018, 4Ocean has partnered with over 15 different nonprofits -- including the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Ric O’Barry’s Dolphin Project, Captains for Clean Water, and the Marine Mammal Center -- in this manner.
About 16 billion pounds of plastic waste finds its way into the ocean every year, according to 4Ocean. The company fights against this by actively recycling trash taken from the ocean and raising awareness on sustainable alternatives to single-use plastic. Earlier this year, 4Ocean had already pulled 5 million pounds of trash in only two and a half years; by purchasing one of their bracelets, customers can help them accomplish even more.
