Oval

Oval cuts have been around for centuries, but it wasn’t until the late 1950s and early 1960s that expert diamond cutter Lazare Kaplan of Russia invented the modern iteration of the oval cut. In this form, the diamond retains the rounded edge for more durability than shapes with sharp corners. An oval-shaped diamond looks particularly lovely on thick fingers or small hands, as the elongated shape helps give the illusion of greater length. This stone shape represents individuality and pushes boundaries while still respecting tradition. Because the oval is the shape of an egg, this shape also symbolizes fertility, rebirth, and family.
